Lustre discuss - Jul 2009 - Bad kernel-lustre-sources? impossible to compile OFED infiniband drivers

Hi
I cannot compile Infiniband OFED drivers against any of the Lustre 
patched kernels

i installed lustre
1. kernel-smp , kernel-source , lustre, lustre-modules and lustre-ldiskfs
2. switched grub to boot into lustre kernel
3. tried to install OFED :  ./install.pl --all (or with menu options, 
but  result is the same)

first time i got messages about unconfigured kernel, so i descended into 
/usr/src/linux-2.6.18...lustre...-obj/x86_64/smp and made
make oldconfig
make prepare
make scripts

then went back to OFED install directory and tried again, but this time 
(and always) i get the errors

File not found .... blablabla..../drivers/net/mlx4 ,   cxgb3 and few others

i checked the kernel .config file, but infiniband and MLX4 are set to 
"is not set"

any suggestions?

Hi,

I will try to help you but it will be much easier if you provide information
about  Linux distribution, Lustre and OFED version you are trying to use.
If you use patched kernel from the SUNs website you can also download there
lustre-ib rpm which includes OFED drivers compiled against patched lustre
kernel.
