Lustre discuss - Aug 2008 - Size of MDT? How big does it need to be?

Hi All,

 

One more question: What is the minimal / maximum size of an MDT? 

And what is a good size for it if the storage available to the client is
3TB of size?

 

Any hints?

I don''t think there is a minimal requirement. I would just go with
100GB. However, the maximum size depends on the size of your files.

No, the maximum size is presently limited to 8TiB (ldiskfs limitation).

Would be a bit funny, though, to have 3TB storage (OST), but 8TiB MDT ;)
