Hi Jacques-Charles, On behalf of the Lustre Group at Sun I''d like to extend our congratulations to you and your team for the successful landing of OST Pools into the Lustre 1.8 gate. For those unfamiliar with the feature: the purpose of pools is to make object placement definitions over OSTs more flexible. You can read more about Pools on the lustre.org arch wiki: http://arch.lustre.org/index.php?title=Pools_of_targets . This is a tremendous milestone for the Lustre Community because it marks the first major feature ever contributed by a developer outside of our core Lustre Group. We started this journey together at the former CFS and I''m delighted to see the relationship with CEA flourish and have the opportunity to celebrate this success now at Sun. We look forward to continued collaboration and more successes with you and your team in the coming year, JC. Cheers, Bojanic Begin forwarded message:> From: Hua Huang <Hua.Huang at Sun.COM> > Date: August 22, 2008 11:09:51 PM ADT > Subject: OST pools is landed in b1.8 > > > Congratulation to the OST pool team who successfully landed > the OST feature into b1.8 gate build 4 today. Very nice. Thanks for keeping us updated. I could see many features for this. Perphaps, striping to a certain pool depending on the strike size? Yep. Good stuff. I suppose we can see this in 1.8 On Sat, Aug 23, 2008 at 9:41 AM, Peter Bojanic <Peter.Bojanic at sun.com> wrote:> Yes, or separating directories for access to ultra-fast storage like SSD > versus disk spindles. > > On 23-Aug-08, at 10:25 AM, Mag Gam wrote: > >> Very nice.
