We would like to run a mdt and mgs on a node that will also have devices providing some ost''s is this a problem? Does it run into the same problems as a client thats also a server has leaving us in unrecoverable state? Thanks Brock Palen Center for Advanced Computing brockp at umich.edu (734)936-1985
Hi, I have two Lustre installations that have mgs, mdt and ost served by the same server. Not an ideal situation, but works. The node that has mgs, mdt and ost is not a Lustre client. Making it also a client was an unstable configuration in previous Lustre releases. But we plan to fix this eventually. Bye, Oleg

Is this a problem? No repeat No OSS MDS or MGS will mount the final filesystem.> > Bye, > Oleg > >

The MDS is actually a ''client'' of the OSS, so you have the same deadlock/recovery issue that exists with the filesystem mount client. cliffw> >> Bye, >> Oleg >> >> > > _______________________________________________ > Lustre-discuss mailing list > Lustre-discuss at clusterfs.com > https://mail.clusterfs.com/mailman/listinfo/lustre-discuss
