Hi, during the last week there have been quite a lot of bug reports to this list. Sorry, that I didn''t participate in this discussion so far, we have been very busy here during the last two weeks. In the mean time (actually rather fast of the release of lustre-1.6.1) we have ported it already to linux-2.6.20, but so far I didn''t release it to public, because its not sufficiently stable. Well, it seems all the problems I see with with 2.6.20 also are in vanilla-lustre-1.6.1. I haven''t analyzed it in detail yet, but I''m rather convinced that those problems are due to the new patchless and patched client functions. I hope to find time beginning on Tuesday to backport the lustre-1.6.0 patched client to lustre-1.6.1 to prove I''m right and more importantly to to have a stable lustre-1.6.1. I will also open new bugzilla entries, but not before Tuesday afternoon. I''ve a patched bonnie++ version here which will make it easy to reproduce some of these problems. I''m presently uploading a new lustre-1.6.0.1-ql-rc3 tar ball to http://www.pci.uni-heidelberg.de/tc/usr/bernd/downloads/lustre/1.6/ This at least supports linux-2.6.22 clients, but I''m sure that there''s a bug in the 2.6.22 server part, so DO NOT use it for your servers. It shouldn''t cause data corruption, but will cause a kernel oops rather soon on the OSS. Cheers, Bernd -- Bernd Schubert Q-Leap Networks GmbH

They have run fine for two weeks now. (using 25TB of 50TB). Any plans on releasing 1.6.2 for vanilla-2.6.21+ ? /Jakob

I won''t upload a lustre release which I havn''t carefully tested yet. If you want to have an experimental release you might want to check out debian svn. Cheers, Bernd PS: Unfortunately I don''t know where I could install a mercurial repository. I also don''t want to ask the present admins of my previous group (they are already far too busy with system adminstration keeping them away of doing science and writing their Ph.D. thesis - the same as it did when I was there). -- Bernd Schubert Q-Leap Networks GmbH
