Hi, I''m trying to bring up Lustre 1.6.0.1 on RHEL4 U4 using the downloaded rpms, but the mkfs.lustre command keeps failing (see below). Evidently it cannot find ldiskfs (the /dev/hdc1 shows up in fdisk as a valid Linux 83 partition). The manual/archives don''t seem to have much on this -- any thoughts? Thanks in advance, Ed Nadolski [root@mojave ~]# mkfs.lustre --fsname spfs --mdt --mgs /dev/hdc1 Permanent disk data: Target: spfs-MDTffff Index: unassigned Lustre FS: spfs Mount type: ldiskfs Flags: 0x75 (MDT MGS needs_index first_time update ) Persistent mount opts: errors=remount-ro,iopen_nopriv,user_xattr Parameters: checking for existing Lustre data: not found device size = 980MB formatting backing filesystem ldiskfs on /dev/hdc1 target name spfs-MDTffff 4k blocks 0 options -i 4096 -I 512 -q -O dir_index -F mkfs_cmd = mkfs.ext2 -j -b 4096 -L spfs-MDTffff -i 4096 -I 512 -q -O dir_index -F /dev/hdc1 mkfs.lustre: Unable to mount /dev/hdc1: No such device Is the ldiskfs module available? mkfs.lustre FATAL: failed to write local files mkfs.lustre: exiting with 19 (No such device)

Are there any other requirements/steps (esp. for RHEL4u4)? Yep, that seems to be working now -- thanks!
