Lustre discuss - Jul 2007 - Removing OST and --failnode

Hi,
i''m new to lustre (1.6) and hope someone can help me.

1) is it possible to PERMANENTLY remove an OST from my MDS? I
deactivated with lctl conf_param <NAME>.osc.active=0 but when i type
lctl dl i stil can see it in the list.

2) what ''s the function of --failnode directive?

It is deactivated (the MDT/clients won''t try to access it).  Just 
unmount it if you don''t want it to be running.

This indicates that the target (OST or MDT) is also accessible via this 
(remote) failover node; you need to have a multi-ported disk to use this.
