[Lustre-discuss] Lustre on Debian ETCH with RHEL4 Kernel
Hi all, We recently got some HP-DL365 machines with the p400i controller. This presented a problem for us on Debian ETCH when we rolled the kernel back to 2.6.12.6 as the cciss driver wasn''t new enough, and the available ones from sf.net didn''t work out either. Patching the 2.6.18 kernel, though I am sure will work, is probably not ideal for production environments. To not tell a very long tale (2 days long really) of trying various options, we decided to try and run the supplied lustre kernel for RHEL4 on Debian. Barring a few very minor notes, the kernel, lustre-modules as well as lustre package were converted to debs and installed. I am yet to run any proper tests, however, everything is up and running via the provided test scripts. If anyone is interested in further details or wants to throw a red flag up regarding such a deployment, please do let me know. Thanks, -- Mustafa A. If anyone is interested then shout. MfG Goswin

I fixed it by patching the 2.6.12.6 driver. patch attached. I also had problems with the tg3 driver. I ended up downloading a tarball from broadcom and replaced the 2.6.12.6 ones. So far, it works fine running 1.6beta7. /Jakob -------------- next part -------------- A non-text attachment was scrubbed...
