Hello.. I am regularly storing data on my luster partition and its MDS and OST files are on another physical partition. the size of luster partition and MDS file is increasing perportionally as i store data on /lustre.. but when i delete the files from luster parttitin it show more available space but the size of MDS file is remain as it is.. so what happens my physical drive is full but luster partition is empty :( this causes no more possible to store on /lustre also... can anyone help how can i minimise the size of MDS so that i can store more in /lustre ??????? +39-328-175-4828 -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... That is normally only used for testing. You should really be using disk devices (e.g. /dev/hd* or /dev/sd*) for these. Hi I used /dev/cciss/cofo5 to store mds and ods and /dev/cciss/cofo5 is mounted on dir /new/pool1 so MDS and ODS friles are on /new/pool1 directory but in syslog it shows loopback created like..... how can i configure in actual then loop back On Thu, 19 Oct 2006 Andreas Dilger wrote :>On Oct 19, 2006 13:04 -0000, Kuldeep Kr wrote: > > I am regularly storing data on my luster partition and its MDS and OST files are on another physical partition. > > the size of luster partition and MDS file is increasing perportionally as i store data on /lustre.. > > but when i delete the files from luster parttitin it show more available space but the size of MDS file is remain as it is.. > > so what happens my physical drive is full but luster partition is empty :( this causes no more possible to store on /lustre also... > > can anyone help how can i minimise the size of MDS so that i can store more in /lustre ??????? > >Are you using loopback files for the MDS and OST? Then create the MDS directly on e.g. /dev/cciss/cofo5 and OST on e.g. /dev/cciss/cofo6. Cheers, Andreas -- Andreas Dilger Principal Software Engineer Cluster File Systems, Inc.
why we need to create MDS and OST on different two different partitions ?
