Hi. In the past there were some posts about patch-less clients and patches for newer kernels in Lustre 1.6. Will the production release of Lustre 1.6 include support for newer kernels than 2.6.12? Does patch-less client mean that new kernels will not only build with Lustre 1.6, but also run stable and be recommended for a production environment? I tested Lustre 1.6 Beta4 (1.5.91) on 2.6.12 servers and a 2.6.17 client. So far everything works okay. Sometimes I get a long timeout when doing an ls on the client even there are no files in the directory, and there are no related messages in the log. Since I want to use kernels above 2.6.12 for all my clients in our cluster I''m asking myself if it is a wise idea to count on the patch-less feature. Any thoughts on this are welcome. Have a nice day, Anselm Strauss.
