Lustre discuss - Aug 2006 - ROMIO/Lustre

Dear all,

Im new to this list. A quick question, does MPI-IO (ROMIO with MPICH) has a 
support for lustre 1.4.6? If the answer is "no" and I compile my MPICH
with
ROMIO will there be any bad interactions?

AFAIK, ROMIO does not support Lustre. Other MPI-IO implementations
might have port for Lustre. Lustre has POSIX I/O interface, hence
ROMIO''s UFS-ADIO can be used to communicate with Lustre FS. By default,
if ROMIO cannot determine the file-system magic from the file to be
accessed, it defaults to UFS-ADIO. 

Having said that, the only thing missing in UFS-ADIO is ability to
set/get stripe of a Lustre file using file-info hints. You can
accomplish this by using "lfs setstripe file" to set stripe of a file
offline. Then using the ADIO-UFS interface the corresponding file can be
accessed.

The ADIO patch for Lustre can be found at:

as  an attachment.  I think that ADIO is the driver for ROMIO and Lustre
does support that.
