Hi I am planning to install Lustre 1.4.6 on RedHat Linux 4.0 I want to make sure i am planning to do the right steps: 1) I am using the prepatched kernels and have installed the kernel rpm, lustre and modules. 2) I do not have a /lib/lustre/examples directory so i plan to to create a local.sh script which is the same script as specified in the How-to document for a single node configuration. 3) Then i intend to run the script and configure the system using lconf --reformat local.xml Here are some doubts i have: 1) I am planning a single node configuration and since i am not really familiar with Lustre I am planning to use the local.sh script given in the how-to as it is. Do I need to make any partitions on my system for this configuration? 2) Will lconf--reformat local.xml also start the MDS,OST and client or do I ned some specific mount command for that. If yes please tell me what commands I need to issue to get my filesystem up. 3) What is the command to shutdown the filesystem. Will lconf --cleanup local.xml work? will it shutdown the client, MDS and OSS. 4) Another very basic question. for this single node configuration how do I know where my MDS, OST or client is running. How do I carry out simple file create, delete and I/O operations to familiarize myself with Lustre. Please do help me out with these questions. Thank You Priya -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL: http://mail.clusterfs.com/pipermail/lustre-discuss/attachments/20060609/07a13962/attachment-0001.html
