Mars,
When you say the passive MDS can''t be set active, what exactly do you
mean?
Please also note that you should not actually be running the lconf
command to start up the second MDS until after the first one has
failed/been stopped.
If the problem you are having is that the backup MDS just won''t start,
you need to make sure you are using an updated config, or otherwise
telling the lconf command that the MDS devices is preferred to run on
the new node. The lconf -select or -service command line options can be
used to specify an service to node override mappings that can allow you
to say that the MDS service should run on the backup node rather than
the primary.

Subject: [Lustre-discuss] Automate Failover configuartion
Hi,
We are now testing automate failover of MDS.
We followed the configuration instructions of Lustre 1.4.6 Operation
Manual(version 1.4.6.1-man23).
But when the active MDS is shut down , the passive MDS can''t be set
active to take over the service automately.
We have tested for many times but still can''t find a solution.
Who can tell us what changes we should make on the configuration to
resolve the problem?
Would you be kind enough to send us a detailed guide document,if you
have already configured Automate failover suceesfully?
Thanks & best regards.
