Hello, I''m total new with Lustre, and I have some dudes, perhaps you can explain me. We have a pseries and a bladecenter, and we are searching a cluster file system. We found Lustre, but we aren''t sure about some things. We are using SLES 9 with service pack 3, then we have the kernel patches installed, in fact, we are testing, with local.sh and we have no problem. The big dude is that we don''t know if the file server uses the Linux VFS. We are going to use big files, and we need the VFS cache. We are thinking about using the pseries like MDS too, but I don''t know if the pseries must be client or no. I''m testing, and if I create one 250 Mb file, in normal ext3 system, and it is in cache, system takes 0.123 sec to read it, but with lustre, it takes 1,730 secs. I''d like know also if I can use jfs or xfs for data server, I read that Lustre uses only ext3 for backend, I suppose, it''s only for metadata. Sorry for my bad english, I hope you understand me.
