The ost nodes will not do mirroring. It is possible that one can be a
backup for the other if:
a) you have shared storage (i.e. disk accessible by both nodes)
b) you have some sort of failover software (e.g. clumanager)

It is not currently possible to add OST storage online. This is a
feature that is being worked on for the 1.6.0 release, and it will
be able to do "quiescent" addition (i.e. with no system IO load).
