[Lustre-discuss] booting a lustre system from a usb flash drive
I haven?t attempted a usb drive, but perhaps you should check out the oneSIS project: http://sourceforge.net/projects/onesis It?s basically an nfs root project that will allow you to do what you?re looking for with the local disk. -jeremy On 12/23/05 2:51 PM, "Chris Bachmann" <koukoukachu@gmail.com> wrote:> Some of us were discussing the possibility of booting off of a usb flash drive > (/, /usr, /var, swap, etc.) so the disks are left to be pure storage. You can handle ''/var/log'' with remote logging. The other partitions where you need to write can go in a ramdisk. Even better, put the whole OS in ramdisk and forget about the flash drive. See the Warewulf Linux toolkit. David S.
