The download url that was mailed to me just had rpms for 1.0.x and not for 1.2.4. http://www.lustre.org/download.html gets a 404, but http://www.lustre.orgpoints to http://www.clusterfs.com/download.html. All that does is sends us to a form page where we fill out a bunch of corporate information, but no actual downloads. It was from that form that I recieved the download url. We follow that practice. It has been my experience that those kernels do allow you to move a disk from one machine to another fairly easily, and work well out of the box. You shouldn''t have to recompile our kernel, and if you do need to rebuild, it''s the same method as building the regular Linux kernel - hacking should not be needed. :)> > You might also want to let the person who originally asked the question know > that there are no rpms. >Done, thank you for the reminder. cliffw> On 11/4/05, cliff white <cliffw@clusterfs.com> wrote: > >>Chris Bachmann wrote: >> >>>Still no rpm. the tar.gz file doesn''t contain them either. >> >>I''m sorry - i mis-read your email. Administrators can add OSTs today, but must restart clients and servers. 1.6.0 will allow you to add OSTs without restarting, but not yet while the file system is under load. - NFS v3 re-export from Lustre clients with reasonable performance. - If OSTs begin to fill up at very different rates, the MDS will begin to allocate proportionally more new objects on the less full OSTs. Administrators who wish to preserve the completely round-robin behaviour will be able to disable this balancing. Hope that helps, -Phil
