[Lustre-discuss] Lustre - does it work with the XFS file-system

In the past there was partial support for reiserfs (v3) but this has not been maintained. In theory it would be possible to have an XFS back-end for either/both the MDS and OST but this is not in any CFS plan. At one time or another persons outside CFS have attempted to make an XFS back-end but we never heard any news on the success or failure of these projects. One requirement of the back-end filesystem is the ability to support nested or compound atomic transactions. I don''t know enough about XFS to know if it has an API for this. Lustre currently does not have HSM support, though this is something that we are looking into, and may be driven by customer demand for it.
