Since you had only formatted 50G as ext3/diskfs, df will only the show amount of formatted disk space (even after you stop lustre and remount as ext3). You have to format the entire disk (using mk2fs or mkfs.ext3) if you want to see 1.3T, when being mounted. fdisk -l will show the actual storage of /dev/sdc1. Use resize2fs is you want to extend beyond 50G or reformat the entire device using ldisfs/ext3 without passing --size to lconf while configuring OST (note: you may lose old data in the partition). Hope this helps. -Kums
Hi, I installed rpms for lustre version 1.4.2.i686 in a 4 node cluster. I am doing some tests and following are two things I noted. Did anyone come across these problems? 1. I reformatted a portion (50G) of the 1.3T storage /dev/sdc1, in one of our OSS for lustre file system. Created MDS and mounted in a client and tested the file system. Everything worked fine. Then I stopped the lustre services. I mounted the device /dev/sdc1 as a ext3 file system. Now the file system size reported by df command is the size I formatted for lustre, in this case 50G not 1.3T. This happened after I installed 1.4.2. ( I think) After the lustre services are stopped and /dev/sdc1 remounted should it show the original size 1.3T? 2. When an OST is reformatted without first unmounting the partition (/dev/sdc1), I get a /dev/sdc1 mounted error. But when I do a df command it shows the size of that partition as 64Z which is wrong.
