[Lustre-discuss] compiling lustre modules for client access

This would be only for lustre clients. In the upcoming 1.4.3 release it will be possible to compile modules for either client-only or server-only systems, which would remove the need to port some of the patches to a given kernel. While it might be possible to develop a client VFS interface which did not require the Lustre intent patches, our actual goal is to get the Lustre patches into the mainline kernel rather than changing Lustre to conform to the current VFS interface. So, at some time in the future it may be possible to have "patchless" client compiles for generic kernels (as there already is with the 2.6.5 SLES kernel). [Lustre-discuss] compiling lustre modules for client access
Hi, Is it possible to compile the lustre modules without patching the existing kernel ? If unsupported, is there any possiblity of support in the future ? This would be only for lustre clients. Thanks, Praveen
