ATTENTION LUSTRE USERS:
Lustre 1.2.7 has been released!
Lustre 1.2.7 contains numerous recovery fixes over Lustre 1.2.6 but is only
a recommended update for users of Lustre on Linux 2.4. Please read below
for details.
Noticeable improvements allow Lustre 1.2.7 to:
- avoid deadlock during client->OST recovery handling
- avoid allocating new objects on OSTs that are full
- use priviledged source ports for client->{MDS,OST} connections,
It''s important to note though that the privileged port change means it
is
necessary to update the clients before, or at the same time as the server.
It is not possible to update only the servers without a configuration
change. In all cases CFS recommends that both the clients and servers are
updated at the same time.
- deny non-priviledged connections at server by default
- rate-limit console error and warning messages
- handle mmap()ed regions coherently, by using the Lustre DLM. This will
correct the "Bus error" symptom occasionally seen when running
modified
binaries from Lustre.
--> Linux 2.6 users: please note that the mmap fixes are not complete, and
that Lustre 1.2.7 modules will not load in 2.6 kernels. Please continue to
use 1.2.6 until the release of Lustre 1.2.8, which will correct this issue:
