[Logcheck-devel] Bug#440613: logcheck: Logcheck should not show last message repeated X times when the line its referrering to is gone
Package: logcheck Version: 1.2.54 Severity: normal When running logcheck, i get alot of Sep 3 14:26:29 fred last message repeated 2 times Sep 3 14:26:30 fred last message repeated 2 times Sep 3 14:26:32 fred last message repeated 2 times Sep 3 14:26:33 fred last message repeated 2 times Sep 3 14:26:34 fred last message repeated 2 times type output, this is both rather useless, and a good waste of inbox space (I can get hundeds of these sometimes (mainly due to ftp server) I had thought about setting up an ignore rule for them, however when they are actually relevant to a line that hasnt been removed, i would loose that info. It would be best, if the line immediately proceeding the message repeaded line was 'ignored' then this line should get ignored to, and it should be kept when the line above is not ignored. -- System Information: Debian Release: 4.0 APT prefers stable APT policy: (500, 'stable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Kernel: Linux 2.6.9-023stab033.1-smp Locale: LANG=en_AU, LC_CTYPE=en_AU (charmap=ISO-8859-1) Versions of packages logcheck depends on: ii adduser 3.102 Add and remove users and groups ii cron 3.0pl1-100 management of regular background p ii debconf 1.5.11 Debian configuration management sy ii grep 2.5.1.ds2-6 GNU grep, egrep and fgrep ii lockfile-progs 0.1.10 Programs for locking and unlocking ii logtail 1.2.54 Print log file lines that have not ii mailx 1:8.1.2-0.20050715cvs-1 A simple mail user agent ii postfix [mail-tr 2.3.8-2+b1 A high-performance mail transport ii sysklogd [system 1.4.1-18 System Logging Daemon Versions of packages logcheck recommends: pn logcheck-database <none> (no description available) -- no debconf information

If you want to work on this, please do. I will consider a patch but I will not implement this myself. -- .''`. martin f. krafft <madduck at debian.org> : :' : proud Debian developer, author, administrator, and user `. `'` http://people.debian.org/~madduck - http://debiansystem.info `- Debian - when you have better things to do than fixing systems -------------- next part -------------- A non-text attachment was scrubbed...
