Has everyone seen http://www.csl.sony.co.jp/person/kjc/software.html ? I just stumbled across it today and it has some good graphs and analysis of CBQ and some other tools for BSD (not Linux) but fairly relevant nonetheless. -- Michael T. Babcock CTO, FibreSpeed Ltd. AFAIK ALTQ''s CBQ is better than Linux''s ... What would be nice is to implement HFSC. It has VERY nice characteristic. I wanted to try it i year ago but it is rather complex .. Just an "understanding check"(tm) ;)
From what i gathered from the SFQ documents, SFQ *has* to be contained in
classes and it will give ''different'' flows in _that_ class a
chance by
reordering packets.
Here different flows are distinguished by source & dest addresses and
source port.
Is this right?

Yes, it gives flows in _that_ class a chance by scheduling packets. However, if you are talking to a real modem or a really congested link (so the cable is full, so to speak), then you don''t need a class to nest it in.> Here different flows are distinguished by source & dest addresses and > source port. > > Is this right?Exactly.
