Icecast - Feb 2006 - Re: ices0.4: icecast mp3 stream for source ?

thank you, for your fast answer. my problem with ogg is, that the 
mediaplayer don?t understand it. a lot of users are using ms mediaplayer
unfortunately.

That is true.  You need to have your listeners install the Illuminable
Ogg DirectShow filters.  This is very simple to do.  Just put links to
the download on your website.

This supports Ogg Vorbis audio and Ogg Theora video.

thank you for this information. many of ouer users are dau?s and don?t 
install thomething. i nedd a way to reencode the mp3 stream to lower 
mp3. the server have no soundcard.

streamtranscoder will do MP3.  You will need libmad and lame installed for 
this to work.  And no, you don't need a soundcard.

but i dont found documentation to config it. compile is ok, but where is
the place to put the information for the reencoding (bps khz mountpoint 
etc) ?
