I haven't touched IceCast yet, but I evaluating it for a project. On the website it says it uses TCP for streaming, is there an option of UDP? Wouldn't UDP be better for a large amount of streams? TCP is much more friendlyMulticasting would be more interesting, but firewalls would again be an issue. ThanksI guess on some level it might, but using UDP for a wide audience will cause all sorts of issues for people behind firewalls. TCP is much more friendly to things like NAT and stateful firewalls. While it is possible to poke holes in firewalls, and do port forwarding, it's not something you want to do on a large scale, IMHO. -Steve

-- Progress (n.): The process through which the Internet has evolved from smart people in front of dumb terminals to dumb people in front of smart terminals. -- --- >8 ---- List archives: http://www.xiph.org/archives/ icecast project homepage: http://www.icecast.org/ To unsubscribe from this list, send a message to 'icecast-request@xiph.org' containing only the word 'unsubscribe' in the body.
