Hi there
I am trying to use this python script
here:?https://github.com/aravindavk/gluster-georep-tools
I already used this tools to?create geo-rep with Gluster10 but now with
Gluster11 I am got this error:
[NOT OK] Failed to Establish Geo-replication Session
Please check gsync config file. Unable to get statefile's name
gluster-georep-setup VMS gluster3::VMS-REP --secondary-user root --force
Geo-replication session will be established between VMS and gluster3::VMS-REP
root at gluster3 password is required to complete the setup. NOTE: Password will
not be stored.
root at gluster3's password:
[ OK] gluster3 is Reachable(Port 22)
[ OK] SSH Connection established root at gluster3
[ OK] Primary Volume and Secondary Volume are compatible (Version: 11.1)
[ WARN] gluster3::VMS-REP is not empty.
[ OK] Common secret pub file present at
/var/lib/glusterd/geo-replication/common_secret.pem.pub
[ OK] common_secret.pem.pub file copied to gluster3
[ OK] Primary SSH Keys copied to all Up Secondary nodes
[ OK] Updated Primary SSH Keys to all Up Secondary nodes authorized_keys file
[NOT OK] Failed to Establish Geo-replication Session
Please check gsync config file. Unable to get statefile's name
I try
gluster volume geo-replication VMS root at gluster3::VMS-REP create push-pem
Please check gsync config file. Unable to get statefile's name
geo-replication command failed
But get some error.
Do I missing something?
Any clue?
Thanks

[Gluster-users] Failed to Establish Geo-replication Session Please check gsync config file. Unable to get statefile's name
Hi Strahil
In fact I try it with both: debian source and github. But I will try it
again, for the sake of double checking.
Now I am trying with complied github repo which I cloned here and the
geo-rep session is created but I got the faulty error message.
On the gsyncd.log I got this:
[2025-11-10 16:47:32.148617] E [syncdutils(worker
/mnt/pve/data1/vms):845:errlog] Popen: command returned error [{cmd=rsync
-aR0 --inplace --files-from=- --super --stats --numeric-ids
--no-implied-dirs --existing --xattrs --acls --ignore-missing-args . -e ssh
-oPasswordAuthentication=no -oStrictHostKeyChecking=no -i
/var/lib/glusterd/geo-replication/secret.pem -p 22 -oControlMaster=auto -S
/tmp/gsyncd-aux-ssh-ego23mdy/dc97de7ffea2b18802fbdbd0b783902c.sock
-caes128-ctr gluster4:/proc/69072/cwd}, {error=12}]
The VM file, vm-100-disk-0.qcow2, is indeed created in the other size, but
with 0 size. I wonder why?
Thank you for your reply...
Best regards
