@saju:
thank you for the clarification. I?ll add my two cents in the discussion.
What surprises me still is that I cannot find the removal of this feature in any
user accessible documentation. If I missed it somehow, please let me know where
to look.
There is nothing in the change information, release notes or upgrade guide of
gluster 8.
The transport option is still documented as available and accepted by the CLI.
If you try to use it, it just fails with a message in the brick log that
rdma.so is missing.
Best
Rupert

@Rupert - RDMA is being discussed
here<https://github.com/gluster/glusterfs/issues/2000> . Please feel free
to pitch in.
It has been dropped from release 8 onwards.
Thanks

Dear List!
For choosing glusterfs for starting our small GPU cluster (just building it up
now), one reason was native support for infiniband connections.
When setting up a volume with transport rdma in gluster 9, it just does not work
and rdma.so is shown to be missing in the brick log.
Asking back if this is an issue of the ppa packaging for ubuntu, I learned that
rdma support was supposedly dropped in gluster 9.
Were any of you aware of this? I would have expected a dropped feature to show
up in the change list of a release and getting a warning on the user interface
if I use a deprecated feature.
I?m also surprised since RDMA/Infiniband support is a feature that is
?advertised? in many places.
