Gluster users - Nov 2015 - Glusterfs - Translators/Performance

I was reading this link and was not sure if these settings go in to 
/etc/glusterfs/glusterd.vol? Do I have to just edit this file to add the
setting?

do we have to choose between writebehind, io-threads, io-cache?

If anybody has done this please let me know.

By default all gluster volumes have these capabilities built in. What is your
workload and what is the nature of performance improvements that you are looking
forward to?
