I've now managed to corrupt a VM QCOW2 image to the extent it could not be mounted by KVM 3 times. All three times it was by doing a live migration while the VM was running a disk benchmark. Note: This was a corruption of the qcow2 format itself, not the guest filesystem within the qcow2 image. For me, the shard feature is yet a beta.
