[Gluster-users] When will 3.6 be considered stable? (was: Replace brick 3.4.2 with 3.6.2?)

We're actively working on a 3.6.3 release, fixing the reported bugs, and should have a beta out in the near-ish future. (3.6.3beta1 came out on 11th Feb, we're still working on a few more patches) And yeah, not great. :/ Regards and best wishes, Justin Clift -- GlusterFS - http://www.gluster.org An open source, distributed file system scaling to several petabytes, and handling thousands of clients. (3.6.3beta1 came > out on 11th Feb, we're still working on a few more patches)Hi Justin, Thanks for coming back to me on this. Is it the intention that 3.6.3 will contain fixes to all of the currently known bugs, or is it that some of them are urgent enough to release 3.6.3 early, whilst leaving some of the less important bugs for 3.6.4? I'm keen to roll out our cluster as soon as reasonably possible, but not at the expense of dependability as what we'll be using it for is mission critical.> And yeah, not great. :/Maybe, but it happens. At least the issues are being addressed. I'm pleased to be aware, anyway. Given that bugs are there, I'd rather know about them than not. I guess 3.6.3 might stay in beta for longer than usual in this case? Cheers, Kingsley.

Wouldn't it help to have multiple threads copying files in order not to have to wait for stat-calls to propagate back and forth between client and server(s)?>> I don't really want to go through that again if I can help it. > > We thought it was - including getting tested by a some places fairly > intensively before - until bugs started showing up when people deployed > it to production. > > We're actively working on a 3.6.3 release, fixing the reported bugs, > and should have a beta out in the near-ish future. Is ext4 still a problem, or is that particular issue fixed (entries occuring multiple times might indicate that it's not, but the true reason for that behaviour when I tested still eludes me [due to lacking understanding of the internals]). /Anders -- Anders Blomdell Email: anders.blomdell at control.lth.se Department of Automatic Control Lund University Phone: +46 46 222 4625 P.O.
