Gluster users - Mar 2009 - Posix locks question

Hi.

Can you please explain, what the purpose of posix locks option, and what are
the benefits/downsides of using it?

I tried searching in wiki, but only found a general definition. Btw, a link
to page explaining all the options would also be appreciated.

This translator provides storage independent POSIX record locking
support (fcntl locking). Typically you'll want to load this on the
server side, just above the POSIX storage translator. Using this
translator you can get both advisory locking and mandatory locking
support.

Additionally, if you are using the replicate translator, you *must*
use the locks translator in your server.
