[Gluster-users] Problems installing GlusterFS 2 in a OpenVZ VPS
Hi, I'm trying to install and make work GlusterFS 2 on a OpenVZ VPS since a couple of days. I have successfuly installed and used it on a physical server, but I have the following error on my virtual Machine. I used the same parameters on both architectures, 64bits. Version : glusterfs 2.0.0rc4 built on Mar 9 2009 23:16:28 TLA Revision : cb602a1d7d41587c24379cb2636961ab91446f86 + Starting Time: 2009-03-09 23:55:33 Command line : glusterfsd -f glusterfs-srv.vol PID : 5453 System name : Linux Nodename : serv Kernel Release : 2.6.18-14-fza-amd64 Hardware Identifier: x86_64 Given volfile: +------------------------------------------------------------------------------+ 1: volume brick 2: type storage/posix 3: option directory /export 4: end-volume 5: 6: volume server 7: type protocol/server 8: subvolumes brick 9: option transport-type tcp 10: option auth.addr.brick.allow * 11: end-volume +------------------------------------------------------------------------------+ 2009-03-09 23:55:33 C [posix.c:3615:init] brick: Extended attribute not supported, exiting 2009-03-09 23:55:33 E [xlator.c:607:xlator_init_rec] xlator: initialization of volume 'brick' failed, review your volfile again 2009-03-09 23:55:33 E [glusterfsd.c:494:_xlator_graph_init] glusterfs: initializing translator failed 2009-03-09 23:55:33 E [glusterfsd.c:1127:main] glusterfs: translator initialization failed. exiting

Please make sure you use a backend that supports extended attributes. Vikas -- Engineer - Z Research http://gluster.com/

simplest solution is to place CAPABILITY="SYS_ADMIN:on " in your VPS config. Alteratively you can change all "trusted" to "user" in Glusterfs source code, recompile and go! regards, Piotr Davy NESTOR wrote:> Hi, > > I'm trying to install and make work GlusterFS 2 on a OpenVZ VPS since a couple of days. > I have successfuly installed and used it on a physical server, but I have the following error on my virtual Machine. > I used the same parameters on both architectures, 64bits. > > Version : glusterfs 2.0.0rc4 built on Mar 9 2009 23:16:28 > TLA Revision : cb602a1d7d41587c24379cb2636961ab91446f86 + > Starting Time: 2009-03-09 23:55:33 > Command line : glusterfsd -f glusterfs-srv.vol > PID : 5453 > System name : Linux > Nodename : serv > Kernel Release : 2.6.18-14-fza-amd64 > Hardware Identifier: x86_64 > > Given volfile: > +------------------------------------------------------------------------------+ > 1: volume brick > 2: type storage/posix > 3: option directory /export > 4: end-volume > 5: > 6: volume server > 7: type protocol/server > 8: subvolumes brick > 9: option transport-type tcp > 10: option auth.addr.brick.allow * > 11: end-volume > > +------------------------------------------------------------------------------+ > 2009-03-09 23:55:33 C [posix.c:3615:init] brick: Extended attribute not supported, exiting > 2009-03-09 23:55:33 E [xlator.c:607:xlator_init_rec] xlator: initialization of volume 'brick' failed, review your volfile again > 2009-03-09 23:55:33 E [glusterfsd.c:494:_xlator_graph_init] glusterfs: initializing translator failed > 2009-03-09 23:55:33 E [glusterfsd.c:1127:main] glusterfs: translator initialization failed. exiting > > _______________________________________________ > Gluster-users mailing list > Gluster-users at gluster.org > http://zresearch.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/gluster-users >-------------- next part -------------- A non-text attachment was scrubbed...
