Hello ! thanks for creating FreeRide, its great project and I have much hope for it. Much needed as well. although I have few comments/requests, some of them that I really consider important. I''ll try to order them by importance. - do not reload files ? when a file is modified or even deleted from outside the editor, the editor is not aware of it. data loss may occur. - save as always goes to freeride main dir. saving new files will always open the save dialog to the freeride directory. it should be aware of a current directory or the home dir should be taken in other cases. - tabs instead of spaces I prefer using tabs instead of spaces, freeride automatically change my tabs into spaces, It should be configurable. - mouse wheel mouse wheel does not work, i think many people would appreciate it. - drag n drop a file from the explorer it is so simple to open a file just by dragging it to your favorite editor. - code automation () [] etc. some code automation like auto completing brackets would be great. or surrounding a selection with brackets by pressing the left one. pretty low priority, but it''s sweet. thanks. -- -- Take the control over your money, track your expenses http://justbudget.com -- Due to the current virus surge, Linux or OSX is highly recommended for e-mail and Internet operations. -- When mass sending, make TO: equal to FROM: and everybody else in BCC: Mathieu -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... They are all very valid points actually. We''ll keep them in our to do list. Actually what would be really great is that you enter them in the bug tracker of FR on RubyForge at http://rubyforge.org/tracker/?func=add&group_id=31&atid=202 Please prefix the subject with the term ''Usability - '' See the list of open bugs for an example of what I mean http://rubyforge.org/tracker/index.php?group_id=31&atid=202 Thanks a lot for your contribution! ok I created the bugs for them..... quick question there... I think FreeRide is made in FoxRuby right ? I know you are already very really far in development... but would that be something you would consider to port it to QtRuby ? just a thought. thanks On 11/8/05, Laurent Julliard <laurent at moldus.org> wrote:> > somekool at gmail.com wrote: > > Hello ! > > thanks for creating FreeRide, its great project and I have much hope for > > it. At the time that FreeRIDE was started it was the best choice available on all of the target platforms. Even so, it was still a compromise since it was missing a couple features that we felt were key: internationalization, and native widgets. Because of this, members of the FreeRIDE team started the wxRuby project to provide Ruby binding to wxWidgets (formerly known as wxWindows). The wxRuby project is now far enough allow that its almost good enough to port FreeRIDE to wxRuby. But, of course, that will only happen if/when enough people are available to do the work. Curt
Hi Mathieu, Thanks for the good suggestions, I''ll try to see if I can squeeze in a couple a extra hours. I think the DnD and SaveAs bugs shouln''t be alot of work to fix. The tabs-spaces and file-change bugs are somewhat more complicated. Once I finish building project-support I''ll try to look into it. Unfortunately I can''t replicate your problem with the mousewheel on Windows. I installed the one-click-installer on a neighbouring Windows-machine and tested FreeRIDE. It worked fine for me. somekool at gmail.com wrote:> ok I created the bugs for them..... > > quick question there... I understand, porting it either to wx or Qt, both is a huge work. for my wheel mouse problem, maybe it''s related with that fact that I don''t really have a wheel mouse but a Synaptics touchpad (laptop) On 11/9/05, Curt Hibbs <curt.hibbs at gmail.com> wrote:> > On 11/9/05, somekool at gmail.com <somekool at gmail.com> wrote: > > ok I created the bugs for them..... > > > > quick question there...
