Is this a recent ports-tree?
FreeBSD 9.1 has been out of support for probably the better part of three years.
No chance a current ports-tree is usable on it.
If for whatever reason you insist on staying with 9.1, you should use a
ports-tree from 9.2-RELEASE or maybe 9.3-RELEASE.
