freebsd stable - Jan 2014 - Cannot connect to10.0-RC5 r260540 in hostap mode from any clients

Been following 10.0 and for several weeks have not been able to connect to
an ath AR9227
ap running on the machine.

Presently at 10.0-RC5 r260540, same situation at RC3, and for some revs
previous.

Sorry I don't have better debugging info, let me know how I can provide
that.
