I have been having this happen occassionally for a week or so now... Sep 24 16:35:33 netcom1 /kernel: psmintr: out of sync (0000 != 0008). Sep 24 16:35:33 netcom1 /kernel: psmintr: discard a byte (15). Sep 24 16:35:33 netcom1 /kernel: psmintr: out of sync (0000 != 0008). Sep 24 16:35:33 netcom1 /kernel: psmintr: discard a byte (16). The mouse 'jumps' halfway across the screen when it happens. I haven't really had any problems before this... just making an observation - if anyone else is seeing this consider it a bug report. - Mike H.

There was a post to the list about this just last week. http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/getmsg.cgi?fetch=734923+0+/usr/local/www/db/text/2003/freebsd-stable/20030921.freebsd-stable Cheers - Erick
This started happening around when there were ata changes. The problem seems to occur during heavy disk access. I lost the mouse yesterday as per the previous mail: Sep 25 09:39:44 netcom1 /kernel: psmintr: out of sync (0000 != 0008). Sep 25 09:39:44 netcom1 /kernel: psmintr: discard a byte (19). Sep 25 09:39:44 netcom1 /kernel: psmintr: out of sync (0000 != 0008). Sep 25 09:39:44 netcom1 /kernel: psmintr: reset the mouse. Sep 25 09:39:44 netcom1 /kernel: psm0: failed to reset the aux device. Sep 25 09:39:44 netcom1 /kernel: psm0: the aux device has gone! (reinitialize). I had to reset the box. I'll try another mouse, but I also do have one of those dodgy 686b VIA chipset boards.
