Sandvine is looking to hire a developer for our OS Platform group. Sandvine uses FreeBSD as the basis for our high performance realtime network processing platforms, with heavily tuned network drivers and a customized packet processing stack. We also realize that having general bugfixes and improvements contributed into upstream projects is mutually beneficial, and are looking to increase our involvement in the FreeBSD and other communities in order to do so. As a member of a small team you will be responsible for the design, development, and maintenance of the operating system and open source components used in Sandvine's product offerings. Depending on your qualifications this could be a full time position at one of Sandvine's worldwide locations, or a remote contract position. You have many of these skills: * Excellent software development, debugging and testing skills in C and C++ * Bourne shell programming (bonus points for TCL, Python, or Awk) * Understanding of FreeBSD kernel internals and drivers * Experience configuring FreeBSD daemons for services like DNS, SMTP and TFTP * Experience tracking local changes against an upstream vendor version in revision control software * Hands-on experience in profiling and debugging complex multithreaded kernel modules and user space applications * Testing and development in a virtualization environment such as VMware, VirtualBox, or QEMU * Understanding of software packaging, release, and upgrade processes * Experience with RAID hardware configuration and drivers * Interaction with vendors, product development teams, and customers * Knowledge of build infrastructure and tools such as PMake, Apache Maven and GNU Autoconf * Limitless self-motivation and creativity If this sounds like you, please respond to me with a CV or resume and references to any FreeBSD or other open source work you'd like to highlight. Thanks, Ed Maste
