The company is based in Burlingame, Calif., and is privately funded. We are currently seeking a Sr. UNIX System Administrator in our Burlingame, CA headquarters. It is the responsibility of the System Administrator to to manage servers running FreeBSD in a geographically distributed infrastructure. The ideal candidate will be team-oriented and have very strong technical, communication, and organizational skills within a fast- paced and exciting environment. Most importantly, the ideal candidate will have a proven track record of being creative and flexible, with a strong work ethic and enjoy solving technical issues. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Systems life cycle management Systems infrastructure design Capacity planning SOP creation and enforcement. Incidence response: participate with other members from BitGravity Network Operations Center, BitGvaity technical support and development teams to response and mitigate any service degraded problems Participate in service architecture enhancement review discussions to contribute knowledge and expertise for BitGravity global network Qualifications: 5+ years UNIX (FreeBSD experience a plus) systems administration experience, including working in a high-performance system administration team with 24x7 service level requirements. Strong UNIX systems administration, troubleshooting, and diagnostic skills. Demonstrated proficiency in shell scripting for administration automation. Knowledge of standard networking protocols and services (DNS, TCP/IP, NFS, HTTP, rsync) and ability to troubleshoot/diagnose networking issues. Experience in best security practices Experience in Hardware storage arrays, SAN, fibre-channel design Experience in MySql administration, installation, monitoring, and replication. Excellent written capability for documentation and vocal communication skills are needed.
