I am happy to announce the availablilty of pre-installed VM images for the FreeBSD head/ branch. Images are available for the amd64 and i386 architectures, and can be downloaded from the FreeBSD FTP site, including most mirrors: ftp://ftp.freebsd.org/pub/FreeBSD/snapshots/VM-IMAGES/Latest/ Images are planned to be generated at the same 1-week interval as installer snapshots. VM images for stable/9 are not yet available, but are a work in progress. Technical details: o VM hard disk image formats available are QCOW2 (qemu) and VMDK (VirtualBox and VMWare) o The VM disk images are approximately 750Mb uncompressed, and 10Gb when attached to a VM. File size of the raw disk image will grow as data is written to the virtual device. o The partition layout is: - 512k - freebsd-boot GPT partition type (bootfs GPT label) - 1Gb - freebsd-swap GPT partition type (swapfs GPT label) - ~8Gb - freebsd-ufs GPT partition type (rootfs UFS label) Those interested are encouraged to subscribe to the freebsd-snapshots announcement list for relevant updates and/or notices regarding these VM images: http://lists.freebsd.org/mailman/listinfo/freebsd-snapshots Regards, Glen -------------- next part -------------- A non-text attachment was scrubbed...
