Announcing the 2.5.0 release of fontconfig, a library for configuring
and customizing access to fonts.
Version 2.5.0 has numerous bug fixes and performance enhancements that
have been made since version 2.4.2 was released in December of 2006.
Major changes:
* Cache files now contain directory timestamp. This eliminates the
dependency on the cache file timestamp, making cache files less
likely to be rejected due to system time changes or other
inconsistencies. This also changes the cache file format, but in
a way that old versions of fontconfig can read.
* Lots of new configuration bits. Various new families have been
added to the fontconfig default set of generic aliases, and some
config files have been shuffled around.
* Documentation is now provided for all public APIs, and that
documentation is verified when the package is built.
* Many constant data structures have been moved to shared data
segments. Fontconfig now uses a single page of unshared constant
data.
* Windows build fixes that work around various MFC shortcomings.
This release should build and run better than previous versions.
