I forgot to mention that I already have libXrender 1.0 installed. In this case do I have to install the libXrender 1.1 that comes with fontconfig or can I use my already installed libXrender? You probably know that fontconfig and Xft2 (and Gnome/Gtk 2.2) are both in Debian "testing" (sarge) and unstable (sid) already, and most other programs have been rebuilt to work with these libraries. So, if you are adventurous, you may want to upgrade. Hmm... speaking of which, I wonder if any developer ever backported all these stuff to Debian 3.0? I don''t know. to install Fontconfig and Xft 2.0 so GTK+ 2.2 can use it.
My doubts are:
1) does Fontconfig and Xft 2.0 works with XFree86 4.1.0?
2) can I compile Fontconfig and Xft 2.0 with my current XFree86
instalation and it will work? or do I have to get a new version of
XFree86 with an already bundled Fontconfig and Xft 2.0?
