You asked for bugs that people hoped would be fixed. I found what I think is a fontconfig/xft2 bug that I didn''t see in the archive. When using mozilla (1.2.1) with xft (2.1) enabled, loading a binary files crashes mozilla (or any mozilla based browser like galeon). If xft2 is disabled, mozilla does not crash. Eg: http://www.mit.edu/afs/athena/user/d/a/daveg/Src/ATHENA/third/gnome-system-monitor/po/am.gmo See http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=182850 for more information. I am not sure how to debug fontconfig other than the strace given in the debian bug report, but would be happy to try different things. That''s complicated by the isolation of the X related libraries in XFree86 CVS to which I have no direct access. Kinda makes it hard to create a release. My eventual hope is that each library will live in it''s own package as they really are all separate. Perhaps in the near future this will be possible. -keith

I grabbed fcpackage from fontconfig.org, patched and compiled Xrender from fcpackage, then dropped the new libXrender.so.1.1 into /usr/X11R6/lib. I am using xfree86 4.2.1 (with patched libXrender from fcpackage), freetype 2.1.3, xft 2.1, fontconfig 2.1, glibc 2.2.5, and mozilla 1.2.1 (all built on debian woody). Is that Xrender code going to be in XFree86 4.3?
