Fontconfig - Nov 2005 - fontconfig doesn''t distinguish light weight from medium weight

Also fontconfig does not distinguish between extrabold fonts (weight=205)
and black fonts (weight=210).

Hi,
All my TrueType fonts with light weight are not
distinguished by fontconfig from those with medium weight,
so they all appear as medium weight.
I use precompiled fontconfig 2.2.0 on Debian unstable i386.
Please help me fix this.
