I do not think I am mixing RPMs from different distributions or, to be more rigorous, I am not conscious of that. Paul

Tried those, but the most recent version of fontconfig (2.3.2) is not available. Well, but it is nothing urgent: I can wait for the newest version is available from the mirrors. Paul

Is it developers of Mandrake''s responsibility?Well, there is a solution, it''s just not something we can fix in fontconfig CVS. You''ll need to get the RPM fixed somehow. You can probably install fontconfig from the tarball available from http://fontconfig.org/release as long as you pass the right options to the configure script to match your directory heirarchy. The line in the INSTALL file should be close; that''s what I use on my Debian system. -keith -------------- next part -------------- A non-text attachment was scrubbed... In the case of fontconfig, the script should run ''fc-cache -f'' to rebuild all of the system cache files. In the case of ''urw-fonts-2.0-14mdk'', it should run ''fc-cache'' to create new cache files for the newly installed fonts. Similar problems exist with the other font packages. It appears that someone mis-packaged fontconfig and the fonts for this distribution. -keith -------------- next part -------------- A non-text attachment was scrubbed... Of course, I have not applied any patches. By the way, is there some place where from I could download the Mandriva-specific fontconfig? Paul

Dear All I am trying to install fontconfig 2.3.2 on a computer running Mandrake 10.1, but I get the following errors: # urpmi fontconfig-2.3.2-1.i386.rpm installing fontconfig-2.3.2-1.i386.rpm Preparing... ################################################## Installation failed: file /usr/share/fonts/default/Type1/adobestd35/fonts.cache-1 from install of fontconfig-2.3.2-1 conflicts with file from package urw-fonts-2.0-14mdk file /usr/share/fonts/default/Type1/fonts.cache-1 from install of fontconfig-2.3.2-1 conflicts with file from package urw-fonts-2.0-14mdk file /usr/share/fonts/ttf/decoratives/fonts.cache-1 from install of fontconfig-2.3.2-1 conflicts with file from package fonts-ttf-decoratives-1.3-14mdk file /usr/share/fonts/ttf/latex/fonts.cache-1 from install of fontconfig-2.3.2-1 conflicts with file from package fonts-ttf-latex-0.1-1mdk file /usr/share/fonts/ttf/western/fonts.cache-1 from install of fontconfig-2.3.2-1 conflicts with file from package fonts-ttf-west_european-1.3-14mdk # Any ideas?
