There may be a conflict w.r.t. extension like you mention but
I don't enough about the players to know how they handle it.
In any case, there is no support for Ogg FLAC in the plugins
or metaflac, not because there shouldn't be, but because I'm
trying to avoid user confusion over the format.
I initially added support for it so Ogg-aware streaming
software could use it. An intended side-effect was to test
the waters as to whether Ogg FLAC or native FLAC should be
the preferred form. It's not really clear yet so I don't
want to add the to confusion. If Monty comes out tomorrow
and says "let's add FLAC to Xiph like Speex" then things
will change.
