Fedora directory users - Apr 2006 - user creation template : uid generation modification

Hello,

Is it possible to change the way the user creation template generates the
uid ?

I''d like to have it lowercase and limited to a fixed number of
characters.

Only by hacking the console Java code and building it yourself.
