dtrace discuss - Mar 2009 - defining probes in dyn linked libraries -- any wrinkles?

I succeeded in placing USDT probes in a main program, but when I tried to do
"the same thing" in a shared library I got the following link errors:

tried both the DTRACE_PROBE method shown in manual, -and- the "dtrace
-h" generated header file method described in Adam Leventhal''s
"User-land tracing gets better and better", with similar results.

what am I missing?
