[dtrace-discuss] New Solaris 10 DTrace Guide -- or is it??
I recently noticed that the Solaris Dynamic Tracing Guide has a new rev, dated Sept 2008. I was so excited until I noticed that new features like the "str..." functions, ufunc() etc, ucaller etc, are not in there. Also, the example, used to describe how the args[] array works, is still a system call. I know this is an OpenSolaris forum, not a Solaris 10 forum, but I was hoping someone that monitors this list would know why there is a new manual that doesn''t have new features and corrections? Thanks, Chip -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL: <http://mail.opensolaris.org/pipermail/dtrace-discuss/attachments/20081003/527ec79f/attachment.html>

Hey Chip, The DTrace documentation on docs.sun.com should be following the online wiki documentation. The wiki is the primary source of documentation: http://wikis.sun.com/display/DTrace/Documentation If you want to help make the documentation better, a good place to start would be the list of bugs: http://wikis.sun.com/display/DTrace/Documentation+Bugs Take a look at Jon''s original announcement for the proper procedures for submitting wiki modification proposals: http://opensolaris.org/jive/thread.jspa?messageID=180433& Adam On Fri, Oct 03, 2008 at 01:38:14PM -0400, Chip Bennett wrote:> I recently noticed that the Solaris Dynamic Tracing Guide has a new rev, > dated Sept 2008. Sun''s documentation has a long toolchain that has to handle complexities such as language translation. I''m told that just converting directly to pdf from wiki isn''t really an option for us at the minute. Jon.
