And there''s project D-Light in Studio Express:
http://developers.sun.com/sunstudio/downloads/express/index.jsp
I saw a demonstration recently and was fairly impressed. (This is
after, admittedly, walking away from the JavaOne demo unimpressed.)
To me, the two seem to have a lot of overlap, but the Studio Express
D-Light tooling goes quite a bit further into allowing one to correlate
things happening with hardware counters to info coming from DTrace, all
in time synch. Like Apple''s Instruments, it can record all of that
data
and you can send it to others, re-examine it, etc.
