[dtrace-discuss] DTrace in S10U4 - new features
Hello, I have just read the http://blogs.sun.com/katohisa/entry/solaris_10_8_07_dtrace blog and found that there is new functions, ''ufunc/ucaller''. I couldn''t find any _documentation_ with its description. Could anybody sched some light on why is that ? Is there any up-to-date DTrace manual for S10U4 ? The documentation has fallen a bit behind the implementation so most (if not all) of the features that have arrived since S10 released are not in there. Fortunately, Bryan gives some useful examples in the original bug reports for these new features which should answer your question. For ufunc: http://bugs.opensolaris.org/view_bug.do?bug_id=6311947 For ucaller: http://bugs.opensolaris.org/view_bug.do?bug_id=6315034 I actually did a presentation at last nights London OpenSolaris User Group meeting which went through some of the features that have been added since s10 released. I''ll try and put the slides up on my blog sometime. There''s nothing in the slides that you can''t find on the web but it''s all in one place. Let me know if the above doesn''t answer your question. Jon.

But of course it would be good to have more systematic ("manual-ed") description. :-) In general I miss very much an easy way of checking when does some feature from Nevada (assuming Nevada is the newest bits) gets into Solaris 10/SXDE/OpenSolaris. Something like: feature A from NevadaXX is in SXDE* and in OpenSolaris* and in Solaris 10U* feature B from NevadaYY is in SXDE* and in OpenSolaris* and in Solaris 10U* etc Besides is there any schedule/plan of "refreshing" DTrace manual ? It is something that we need to address though. Jon.
